My First Blog Post
Posted on August 9, 2025 by Jack Mason
Hello, and welcome to my first blog post.
I’m starting this blog as a way to keep track of my Continued Professional Development (CPD) and to share what I’m currently working on or find interesting. The topics will range from tools and projects I’m developing, to new hacking techniques I’ve learned, to whatever else catches my attention. I’ll post whenever I discover something new, build something I think is cool, or just feel like sharing my thoughts.
As this is my first post, I’m not entirely sure what to write about — and I’ll be honest, some of the content might end up being AI-assisted. Nevertheless, let’s start with a quick introduction.
My name is Jack Mason. I’m a 23-year-old penetration tester at Pentest People. I have a strong interest in web application assessments, as well as building my own custom hacking tools. You can find some of my released tools on my GitHub (link in the navigation bar), although I’ve built over 50 more that I haven’t released publicly.
I have a degree in Computer Science from Loughborough University, which gave me the foundations for both building and breaking web applications. Before university, I studied Computer Science at A-Level and GCSE, with both courses heavily focused on coding and tool development.
In this blog, you can expect:
- Web application hacking tools I’ve built.
- Web hacking guides to specific exploits.
- Write-ups of interesting vulnerabilities I’ve discovered on the job (sanitised for confidentiality).
- Book reviews of hacking and cybersecurity resources I’ve read.
- And whatever else I find interesting at the time.
Ultimately, I want this blog to serve as an ongoing record of my work — almost like a living CV of my achievements — so that in a few years I can look back and see just how far I’ve come.
